Financial Aid

Prepare a complete financial aid file early so eligibility and documentation can be reviewed before payment deadlines.

Financial aid guidance updated for the 2026-2027 aid year

Types of Assistance

Depending on program eligibility and individual circumstances, students may be considered for institutional grants, external scholarships, employer assistance, community sponsorship, and applicable public aid programs.

  • Need-based institutional assistance.
  • Merit, service, and program-specific scholarships.
  • Employer or workforce development support.
  • Community organization and education-partner sponsorship.
  • Public grants or aid when the student and program meet applicable requirements.

How to Start

Students begin by completing the QHCC financial assistance intake, identifying their planned enrollment, and submitting any required external aid application. Financial Services then provides a personalized document checklist.

Documents Commonly Requested

Required documents vary, but incomplete or inconsistent information can delay review.

  • Student identity and contact information.
  • Income, household, or sponsorship documentation.
  • Prior-year tax or earnings records when required.
  • Enrollment and program information.
  • Statements explaining unusual financial circumstances.

Priority Review Dates

Students seeking assistance for Fall 2026 should complete their initial file by May 1, 2026. The Spring 2027 priority date is October 15, 2026. Later files may still be reviewed, but funding and processing time may be limited.

Eligibility and Enrollment

Assistance may depend on program, enrollment level, academic progress, completed documentation, and available funding. A change from full-time to part-time enrollment can reduce or cancel an award.

Award Review and Acceptance

When review is complete, students receive an award notice showing the type, term, estimated amount, conditions, and any remaining balance. Students should read all conditions before accepting or relying on the award.

Disbursement and Student Balances

Approved assistance is generally applied to eligible institutional charges first. Any remaining amount follows the disbursement schedule stated in the award notice. Students remain responsible for charges not covered by assistance.

Maintaining Eligibility

Students should remain in eligible coursework, make satisfactory academic progress, respond to document requests, and report changes in enrollment or financial circumstances. Assistance may be reviewed when these conditions change.

Special Circumstances

Students experiencing job loss, major medical expense, family change, housing instability, or another significant circumstance may request an individual review. Documentation and a written explanation may be required.
